How we conserve resources at ArkaZien

Our approaches

Regional products and materials

We prefer to buy from businesses within a 100 km radius, e.g., Wurzener Wildspezialitäten and anona from Colditz. This shortens transport routes and strengthens the local economy.

Green roofs and insect-friendly plants

We have greened several roof areas and are using insect-friendly plants such as succulents (e.g., houseleeks) and flowering herbs (e.g., sage and lavender). This creates habitats for insects, reptiles, and birds.

Utilization of residual wood

On our premises, we consciously prioritize the sustainable use of wood: all buildings are heated with residual wood from production. The walls consist of a wood chip-concrete mixture that we mix on-site. We process the very last remaining wood scraps into wood chips for paving the pathways. This reduces waste, saves energy, and supports efficient construction and operation.

Energy-efficient lighting

To minimize our energy consumption, we use modern LED lighting throughout the entire facility. These energy-efficient lights help us save electricity and reduce our environmental impact.

Avoidance of single-use materials

Sustainable action for us also means avoiding waste. That's why we use reusable tableware at ArkaZien. These reusable alternatives conserve resources and reduce the amount of waste. In our restrooms, we use hand dryers instead of paper towels – this way, no paper waste is generated.

Vegetarian dishes

Digital Tickets

To save paper and make ticket purchases as convenient as possible, we also offer our tickets digitally. This saves resources and reduces waste.
